City Lodge No 2514 which meets at Woolton Golf Club held a ladies luncheon at the club. As the lodge is small and several of the members have young families the WM decided that in lieu of a Ladies Night the lodge would hold a Ladies Luncheon which was attended by some 45 members, wives and visitors.

The director of ceremonies for the event was Stephen Joseph Riley who asked the assembled to stand to welcome the WM Andrew Prowse accompanied by his wife Gemma together with their two sons Evan and Oliver.
Tom Arnold said grace and everyone settled down to an excellent carvery provide by David Aitkin Caterers. At the master’s request the menu being served for the lunch was spring vegetable soup followed by the three meat carvery and a choice of desserts from the trolley with tea and coffee and mints to follow.
After the meal Tom Arnold returned thanks and Stephen James Riley proposed the toast to the ladies which he did in eloquent style, his father Stephen Joseph Riley then sang the ladies song to Gemma with the brethren joining in the chorus.
Gemma Prowse then responded to the toast and in so doing thanked the lodge members for their kind gift and also for sponsoring her when she abseiled down the side of a large office block in Manchester in aid of a hospital charity.

The senior past master of the lodge Geoffrey Johnston presented a bouquet of flowers to Gemma, after which it was time for the raffle which had raised £192 for the lodge widows. There were plenty of prizes to be won so everyone had a good chance of going home with a prize.
The time was marching on and in drawing the event to a close the WM thanked everyone for attending and making it a memorable occasion for Gemma and himself.
