The members of Red Triangle Chapter No 3874 held their annual installation ceremony at Woolton Golf Club, and as has been done many times before, the three principals entered the chapter and opened proceedings in step with normal custom. The principals then extended a warm and friendly welcome to the companions and guests.
The members and visitors were pleased to receive the principal guest, Christopher Blackwell Chairman of Leyland Group accompanied by grand officers, John Norbury and Arthur Cregeen, Woolton Group Chairman Andrew Whittle, group vice chairman Mike Cunliffe and acting Provincial grand officer Vic Albin.
The three principles arose and extended a very warm welcome to Christopher. The ceremony of installation commenced under the direction of the chapter DC Doug Lace. Fred Hulse was honoured to take the third principal’s chair, Stan Povall that of the second principal with Alan Sale remaining in the first principal’s chair.
The visitors witnessed an excellent ceremony with Alan Sale installing Ian McGovern as his successor, Harry White was elevated to second principal, and Alan Rutledge was installed as the third principal. As none of the principals elect had held their impending offices before they were installed in full form, after which they invested their officers for the coming year.
The scripture readings for the principals were given by Fred Hulse to the third principal, to the second principal Alan Malthouse and to the first principal Mike Fox. The robe addresses were performed to a high standard by Alan Sale scarlet robe, Ian McGovern purple robe and Harry White blue robe. Les Cutting gave the address to the three principals and Christopher Blackwell gave the address to the companions.
On the conclusion of the ceremony, Christopher expressed the best wishes of the Grand Superintendent to the three principals; he also congratulated all the companions who took part in the Installation. Christopher was then presented with a cheque for £150 on behalf of the chapter to the West Lancashire Freemasons’ Charity.
Christopher then presented Baron Peter Leo Von Hoffmann with is Grand Chapter certificate. The business of the chapter completed, the chapter was then closed and all retired to the festive board.
