The Provincial Grand Master Tony Harrison, invites brethren, their families, friends, children and even their dogs to ‘Walk the Bay’ in support of the West Lancashire MCF 2021 Festival.
We will be crossing Morecambe Bay on 17 June, leaving at 10.45 am with Cedric Robinson MBE, the Queens Guide to the Sands, leading the way from Arnside promenade as we work our way across to Kents Bank railway station.
To start our adventurous day out, we will all meet at the Monument, Arnside promenade at 10:15 am prompt. Cedric will then lead the eight miles walk across the sands of Morecambe Bay; departing at 10.45 am to first traverse the River Kent estuary channel then crossing the salt marshes to our finishing point at Kents Bank.
The River Kent channel will be crossed and the water level can occasionally reach 12 inches and upward, the salt marsh does present about a dozen small muddy channels which have to be crossed so many choose to walk in bare feet, however old walking boots, trainers or crocs are recommended so be prepared to get wet!
We request all walkers raise a minimum sponsorship of £20 each and that non-walkers kindly sponsor a member of their lodge if possible. Just £2 sponsorship from each member in the Province would raise a considerable amount towards the Festival. If the sponsorship form was passed around at a festive board, and donated through the lodge, any monies raised would accrue to the ‘Patronage’ total of your lodge or chapter.
Tea, coffee and cakes will be provided after the walk at the Abbots Hall Hotel along with washroom facilities, at a cost of £3 each. Payment is to be made to John Wrennall in return for a voucher for this facility.
