Christopher Edwards has become the newest member of the Lodge of Tranquillity No 3877 in a flawless and sincere initiation ceremony performed by WM David Boyes. The Woolton Group Vice Chairman Mike Cunliffe was in attendance to witness the proceedings and also attending was Christopher’s father who had flown in on that day from his holiday home on the Costa Blanca, Spain for this special occasion.

The lodge was opened by David who conducted the normal business of the lodge, which included the successful ballot for Christopher who had been proposed by Alan Routledge.

Having been prepared for the ceremony by the lodge tyler Tom Lunt, the inner guard, Carl Davies made the initial challenge and report. On his admittance to the lodge room, Christopher was guided through the initiation ceremony by junior deacon Roy Brewis assisted by Alan Routledge senior deacon who is Christopher’s work colleague and proposer.

The charge following initiation was delivered by the Senior Warden Alan Carter and a fine explanation of the working tools of the first degree was given by the Junior Warden Ian McGovern.

The lodge was then closed and everyone retired to the festive board where Mike Cunliffe congratulated Christopher and welcomed him to the Woolton Group. David Boyes, in his capacity as group mentor presented Christopher with a copy of the ritual of initiation ceremony and other useful information.

Christopher’s father Eric said that his son had always shown an interest in Freemasonry and that he was proud that he had made the decision to join the fraternity. He wished him well and expressed the hope that he will enjoy himself as a Freemason.
