At the regular meeting of Old Lerpoolian Lodge No 9270 held at Woolton Golf Club the lodge was opened by the WM John McGibbons who hoped the brethren had enjoyed the summer recess and welcomed them to the Michaelmas term!

The usual business was despatched with alacrity so that two brethren could be passed to the second degree. This was the first time in the lodge’s history that a double ceremony had been performed. One never knows how a double degree ceremony will pan out but on this occasion the two brethren were passed in a sincere and dignified manner.
Senior deacon Clive Duckett and junior deacon Fred Hulse attended upon John McMullen and Oliver Leach who competently answered the usual questions and were then entrusted with the pass grip and pass word leading from the first to the second degree. John and Oliver then retired.

In their absence, the lodge was opened to the second degree. While the lodge was waiting for their return the director of ceremonies, Michael Mansfield-Corbett informed the lodge that during the summer recess two of the lodge members had received honours at Provincial Grand Lodge; Grenville Jeffries received the rank of PPrGSwdB and Michael Cunliffe received the rank of PPrGSuptWks as well as accepting the role of Woolton Group Vice Chairman. This was received with acclaim from the brethren. Grenville suitably replied.
The two candidates were then readmitted into the lodge and were passed to the second degree. Fred Hulse presented them with the working tools of the second degree, upon which they were congratulated by the worshipful master and then retired.
During their absence, Michael Cunliffe proposed two new candidates for initiation and Michael Mansfield-Corbett a further candidate for initiation.
The WM closed the lodge to the first degree and further lodge business was conducted. All business now being concluded the WM closed the lodge in due form and the brethren retired to the dining room for refreshments.
